This week, we’re going to round up some of the most anticipated Tejano, conjunto, and cultural events of the month of April.
>> South Texas conjunto legend Pepe Maldonado has lined up the month of April with another quality list of top conjunto acts from the Valley and beyond. Thanks to Joe Maldonado for reaching out and always letting me know the upcoming schedule.
These are the following acts scheduled for this month of April: Los Badd Boyz del Valle on April 1, Los Fantasmas del Valle on April 8, Lazaro Perez y su conjunto and Ruben Garza y La Nueva Era on April 15, Ernesto Cadena y su conjunto and Jesse ‘Chuy’ Flores on April 22 and Ricardo Guzman y Sus Tres Aces and Hector Gonzalez y Los X2Gs on April 29.

>> On April 19, the Narciso Martinez Cultural Arts Center will be hosting their monthly 3rd Thursday “Conjunto Nights at the Chicho” event. This month’s edition will be headlined by Ruben Garza y La Nueva Era. Garza is best known for his time with Los Dos Gilbertos and Ruben Vela y su conjunto, where he served as the bajo-sexto player. The event will be at La Villita Dance Hall, 261 W. Robertson Ave. in San Benito. Cover is $5. For more information, call (956) 367-0335.
>> The City of Elsa is hosting a Tejano and Conjunto Festival and BBQ Cookoff on April 7. The event will include Albert Zamora, Chente Barrera, Los Delta Boyz, Gilberto Jr. y Los 2 Gilbertos, and will be headlined by Elida Reyna y Avante. For more information, call (956) 377-0138.
