The Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show and Rodeo kicks off more than a week of live music with concerts on two stages Friday.
Duelo will perform inside the Payne Auto Group Rodeo Arena.
The norteño band from Roma released its debut album in 1999. The group has been nominated for a Latin Grammy Award and scored six songs on the Billboard 200 chart. Tejano group Jaime Y Los Chamacos will open the show at 7 p.m.

Larry Joe Taylor and Gary P. Nunn perform in the Country Corral beginning at 8 p.m.
Taylor — known for his annual Larry Joe Taylor’s Texas Music Festival in Stephenville, which celebrates its 30th year this April — is a veteran of the Texas music scene. A singer-songwriter since the 1970s, Taylor created an opportunity to feature his peers in the industry with the festival, which draws about 55,000 attendees annually.
Nunn is a Texas Hall of Fame inductee from the Hill Country known as an icon of Lone Star music. He has been awarded several gold and platinum records for writer, publishing and performing. Now in his 70s, he continues to tour and sell out venues.
Live music will be available in the Country Corral inside the livestock show grounds with no admission cost throughout the event.
The rodeo arena will be packed with roping fans starting with Ranch Rodeo at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday. Mutton Bustin’ will accompany each event. Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association action begins with Extreme Bullriding at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and follows with PRCA Rodeo at 7:30 p.m. Thursday as well as Friday, March 16 and Saturday, March 17.
