U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized at the Hidalgo International Bridge more than $400,000 worth of methamphetamine and cocaine over the holiday weekend, according to a news release.
On Saturday, CBP officers detained a 47-year-old Dallas woman as she attempted to enter the U.S. from Mexico as a pedestrian.
The woman, who was not identified, was found in possession of four bundles of methamphetamine — which were affixed to her body — weighing nearly 7 pounds and had a street value of $136,685, the news release states.
In a second incident that same day, CPB officers stopped a 35-year-old man from Reynosa, Tamaulipas after his vehicle was referred for a secondary inspection.
During the inspection of the 2008 Dodge Journey, officers found 16 packages of cocaine within the vehicle, located with the use of an X-ray machine, the release states.
Both the man, who was not identified, and the Dallas woman were arrested and turned over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations agents, the release states.
