Certain shelters will open throughout Hidalgo County as temperatures are expected to dip tonight.
McALLEN
The Salvation Army located at 1600 N. 23rd Street in McAllen will be taking in those needing a warm place to stay overnight from 6 to 9 p.m.
The shelter will be open today and tomorrow.
WESLACO
The First Baptist Church in Weslaco will be open for those seeking shelter.
Intake will be from 6 to 10 p.m., and anyone needing a place to stay overnight is asked to bring identification and prescription medication.
MERCEDES
The City of Mercedes Community Safe Dome/Recreational Center will also be taking in people for the night.
People can check in to the shelter from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Thursday at 1202 S. Vermont Ave.
Alcohol, pets and tobacco are prohibited on the premises.
Community members are asked to bring bedding.
