Letters: Collusion, treachery

The flashy national TV news story focusing on friendly robots walking around the University of Texas at Austin campus covers up a much bigger technology story breaking at the same time but receiving very little attention.

We learn that some of the surveillance components of Chinese spy balloons were sold to the communists by western and American capitalists, at the expense of future generations who will be menaced and perhaps even enslaved by China.

That continuously developing back-burner story of corporate/government collusion and treachery has been covered up for about 100 years, starting with American investment in Lenin’s Russia in the 1920s.

The job of truth-telling commentators is to examine the various fresh ruins of our society found strewn across the countryside, as if recently wasted by earthquakes, but also to excavate older ruins covered up by layers of green growth, mounds that yield histories we never knew anything about.

Debt increases

by percentages

According to The Balance, Treasury Direct:

The five presidents with the highest-percentage impact on the national debt:

Franklin D. Roosevelt: $0.236 trillion, a 1048% increase.

Woodrow Wilson: $.021 trillion, a 723% increase.

Ronald Reagan: $1.86 trillion, a 186% increase.

George W. Bush: $5.85 trillion, a 101% increase.

Barack Obama: $8.6 trillion, a 74% increase.

Facts matter, biased politicized statistics do not.

Let’s repeal

amendment

The U.S. Constitution says the following, in Article 1, Section 8: “To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

“To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress ….”

Nothing in the 2nd Amendment says that any nut-job has the right to own weapons of war, but the Supreme Court determined that was the meaning. It is very weird that a person on the no-fly list for suspected terrorists is legally able to buy all the weapons of war they can afford. The Supreme Court strikes again!

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

The National Guard is a well-regulated militia force organized by each of the 50 states, the U.S.’ federal capital district and three of the five populated U.S. territories. The Proud Boys and Oath Keepers are not members of the well-regulated militia. The people who attempted to overthrow the U.S. government on Jan. 6, 2021, still own their guns.

It’s time to repeal and replace the 2nd Amendment. The meaning of the amendment has been so badly mangled that our only choice is to start over with something that allows for real gun control.
