HARLINGEN — To commemorate National Library Workers Day, which was observed on April 9 this year, Texas State Technical College recognized the contributions of its library staff who ensure that information, books, computers and other resources are available for student success.

Luis Gonzalez and Nancy Hendricks are the library team at TSTC’s Learning Resource Center at its Harlingen location.

Library services are available online to TSTC students statewide. The Harlingen location currently has library services also on-site, offering study and lab services as well.

Gonzalez, who is a library technician in Harlingen, said he finds joy in helping students.

“I enjoy learning what they want to accomplish because they are our future,” he said.

Hendricks, TSTC’s librarian in Harlingen, said her goal is to help people.

“Helping our students to be successful motivates me,” she said. “It gives me satisfaction knowing I was a small part of their educational journey.”

Hendricks said she treasures her work at the college.

“Making sure our students have the right tools to pass their courses is fulfilling,” she said. “It allows me to share my knowledge with them.”

National Library Workers Day is a time to recognize the role that library professionals have not only in keeping a library running, but also in transforming people’s lives.
