“Upon arrival, the missing person was identified as a 29-year-old man by his two friends,” the release stated. “The calling parties stated they were fishing at the canal near the pump house, when two of them accidentally fell in the water.”
Employees from the pump house rescued one of the men, but lost sight of the 29-year-old man, who was fully submerged.
Search teams with the Donna and Mercedes fire departments assisted in the search and recovery and found the man at about 6:27 p.m.
An autopsy is pending.
