A citizen from Mexico was charged with persuading an underage girl to engage in prostitution in McAllen after Border Patrol agents arrested him for being illegally present in the United States.

Jesus Daniel Soria-Torres, who was born in 1996, was apprehended at the McAllen International Airport on Monday after he was questioned by Border Patrol agents about his immigration status, according to a criminal complaint.

Soria admitted to the agents that he was illegally present in the country.

“During a subsequent search of Soria’s person, (Border Patrol agents) discovered a hotel room key in his pants pocket,” the criminal complaint said.

The agents responded to the hotel room located in McAllen and conducted a “knock and talk” and encountered the underage girl.

She stated that Soria brought her from Mexico into the states for the purpose of prostitution.

Homeland Security Investigation special agents responded and conducted an interview with the minor who said that over the past six months, Soria arranged for her to meet men at hotels in the McAllen area in order to engage in sexual acts in exchange for money.

She added that Soria created advertisements for her on the internet and coordinated communication between her and potential johns, according to the complaint.

The minor stated that she would share half of the money she received with Soria and that she would buy a bus ticket to the states whenever he asked her to come.

Soria later admitted that he was aware that the minor was engaged in prostitution in the U.S. and she would travel from Mexico specifically to engage in prostitution with clients Soria would arrange.

“Soria stated that he enticed other females to engage in prostitution in a similar manner,” the complaint said.

He is set to appear in front of U.S. Magistrate Nadia S. Medrano for a detention hearing on Friday.
