Planned Parenthood South Texas has partnered with Frontera Fund to provide Rio Grande Valley residents with sexual and reproductive health services at no cost.
Valley residents can receive care at Planned Parenthood South Texas’s health centers located in Harlingen and Brownsville. The Harlingen center is located at 712 N. 77 Sunshine Strip, Suite 18, and the Brownsville center is located at 870 E. Alton Gloor Blvd., Suite B.
For Planned Parenthood South Texas President and CEO Laura Terril, being able to provide care for Valley residents is a step in the right direction as they continue to fight to restore abortion access in Texas after the U.S. Supreme Court overruled Roe v. Wade in 2022.
“It is very important that in medically underserved regions like the RGV, organizations that share the same values come together to amplify information about services and resources available, while also sending the reassuring and galvanizing message that we are together in this fight for reproductive freedom and we will not back down,” Terril said in a news release Thursday.
With this partnership, residents will receive access to various services including birth control, therapy, clinical breast and pelvic exams, cervical cancer screening and treatment, UTI tests and other services.
Not only will the partnership provide residents with necessary care but will also provide transportation to Planned Parenthood centers to those who need it as well as telehealth services.
“Everyone deserves access to quality and affordable reproductive health care. It’s crucial to ensure that South Texans have access to a range of healthcare options that allow them to make choices about their bodies and futures,” Frontera Fund Executive Director Zaena Zamora said.
