Region One ESC will host Wednesday a Texas Education Agency community forum on career and technical education forums and initiatives.

Part of a “listening tour” on career and technology education, or CTE, the day-long session allows members of the community to share their thoughts on state CTE programs and initiatives with the agency.

According to the agency’s tour website, “TEA is excited to announce the launch of a statewide listening tour to receive feedback from educators, key industry leaders, and parents to help shape future career and technical education programs geared towards high-wage, in-demand occupations.

“Your input is essential to strengthening the state’s programs of study and to ensure alignment between education and the diverse needs of industry in the Texas (e)conomy.”

The forum will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Region One ESC Conference Center at 1900 W. Schunior St. in Edinburg.

It’s open to different representatives of the community in three separate chunks:

>> 9 to 11:30 a.m. for educators;

>> 1:30 to 4 p.m. for industry and community leaders;

>> 6 to 8 p.m. for parents and students.
