COMBES — Police here are investigating the deaths of two men found in a room behind a Staton Street home.

A welfare check led officers to a room in the back of a home in the 500 block of Staton Street at about 10 a.m. April 26, Combes Chief of Police Patrick Quill stated in a press release.

Police identified Michael Anthony Garcia, 47, as one of the men, while the other remained unidentified, he stated.

“When officers arrived at the location, the property owner informed the officers that the man living in a small room at the rear of the property had not been seen since April 23 and a foul odor was coming from the room,” Quill stated. “Officers entered the room and discovered two middle-aged men deceased from an unknown cause.”

Police found no signs of trauma, he stated.

“There was no identifiable trauma to either person, but narcotics and a small amount of marijuana and alcohol were found at the scene,” Quill stated.

Police have ordered autopsies “to determine the manner and cause of death,” he stated.
