McDonald’s Corporation is investing a total of $2.5 million for land and construction, as well as an additional $1.3 million in inventory. The new restaurant will reportedly employ 80 people.

“This exciting project is a result of a partnership between the city of Mercedes and the Development Corporation of Mercedes, and will generate an estimated $31,000 in City property tax revenue and approximately $40,000 in City sales tax revenue,” the news release read. “Construction has already started and is expected to be completed by late July, with the grand opening scheduled for August.”

According to the release, the franchise will be run by Hector De La Garza, an entrepreneur who previously owned restaurants in Mexico. He previously opened a McDonald’s in La Feria.

“This new McDonald’s restaurant is a significant addition to the downtown area of Mercedes and will undoubtedly provide a boost to the local economy,” the release read. “The 24/7 service, free Wi-Fi, and curbside pickup options will make it a popular destination for hungry customers on the go.”
