If your Easter weekend plans include visiting Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, there will be plenty of activities to keep everyone hopping.

Guests can visit the Bunny Corral, which will be across from Small World.

Zoo staff will set up a cozy corral, and bunnies will be available to pet on April 8 and 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., GPZ said in a news release. Zoo staff will be at hand to answer any questions about these furry creatures.

On Easter Day, April 9, free foam bunny masks will be available for the first 50 children to visit the zoo, officials said.

The zoo will also celebrate Easter with treats and gifts for the animals. During the day, keepers will be distributing Easter-themed enrichment items to animals, large and small, throughout the zoo.

On the same day, zookeepers will be conducting an Animal Play Day. Animal Play Days are scheduled events where animals are given an enrichment item that has a specific theme.

Animal enrichment provides novel food and play items to stimulate and entertain animals that live at the zoo, officials said. It is performed on a daily basis at the zoo and is a vital component essential to the health and well-being of the animals.

All activities are free to visitors with paid regular admission or zoo membership.
