SAN BENITO — Tejano group Grupo Siggno will perform at Hog Waddle 2023 March 25 at the San Benito Fairgrounds.
Tickets are $5 at the gate (children 10 and under get in free) and can be purchased ahead of the event at the San Benito Public Library at 101 W. Rose St.
Award-winning singer Jay Perez will also perform, along with other local musical acts.
Hog Waddle is a family-friendly event featuring food and cold drinks.
This year, a carnival will be on site beginning March 23 through March 26.
According to a press release, Hog Waddle gets its name from an event in San Benito history.
In 1914, one of the city’s pioneers marched more than 2,000 hogs up main street during a parade. After a celebratory shot was fired into the air, the hogs scattered throughout the town. It took three days to round them all up.
