Hidalgo County Sheriff J.E. “Eddie” Guerra said a worker died Saturday near Sullivan City after an excavator fell into a sediment pond.
In a tweet, Guerra said the operator was trapped inside the excavator when it fell into the sediment pond.
The location of the incident is north of U.S. 83 on Vanderpool Road near Sullivan City.
Guerra said multiple agencies responded to the scene, including deputies.
