A 35-year-old Mercedes resident died Tuesday evening after crashing into the back of a black Ford Fusion and then veering into a canal.
The crash occurred around 7:15 p.m. after a red Dodge Grand Caravan traveling northbound on Farm-to-Market Road 1425 north of Mile 8 Road in Mercedes “failed to control speed,” according to a Texas Department of Public Safety news release.
The dodge hit a black Ford Fusion from behind, causing the vehicle to roll over while the Dodge veered into a canal.
According to authorities, the driver of the Dodge, Jennifer Renee Trevino, died at the scene.
The crash is still currently under investigation.
