15-year-old sought in rural Weslaco murder

The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a 15-year-old male accused of gunning down a 44-year-old man in rural Weslaco early Saturday morning.

In a Facebook post, the sheriff’s office said deputies responded to the 2100 block of Esperanza Street in rural Weslaco just after midnight in reference to a man with gunshot wounds.

Deputies began life-saving measures on arrival, but were not successful.

The post said the victim is 44-year-old David Silva.

Following interviews with witnesses, investigators obtained a warrant for the 15-year-old male, who remains at large.

The investigation is active and the sheriff’s office is asking any witnesses with additional information to come forward.
