PSJA ISD police arrested a district employee on Friday for allegedly having an improper relationship with a Memorial Early College High School student.

Macario Zarate III, 30, was released from the Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center Saturday on a $20,000 bond.

According to a statement from the district, police began looking into Zarate after receiving a report about the alleged improper relationship from a parent on Thursday.

“The PSJA PD notified District and Campus Administrators and immediately began an investigation,” it reads.

As of Friday, Zarate is no longer a district employee, the district says.

“PSJA ISD thanks the parent for the report and always encourages all students, parents, and staff to immediately alert administrators or law enforcement officials of any improper situations they may witness or learn about that impact the safety and well-being of our students,” the statement reads. “The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. ”
