McAllen to offer amnesty for traffic citations throughout November

The McAllen Municipal Court will be offering amnesty throughout the month of November for residents with unpaid traffic fines.

Those who have received a citation for any class C misdemeanors and who have failed to appear in court can use this time to make arrangements to pay their tickets “without fear of being arrested or any additional fines.”

Late fees will be waived during this time if one makes arrangements to take care of their citation.

Arrangements can be made via email at [email protected], or by mail at the McAllen Municipal Court, 1601 N. Bicentennial Blvd. in McAllen. Arrangements can also be made by phone at (956) 681-2900 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.

Those with active warrants may present themselves in court on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and make arrangements for their citations, and their warrants will be withdrawn without arrest. “Offering amnesty to offenders is intended to bring individuals with outstanding citations into compliance,” presiding Municipal Court Judge Lauren Sepulveda sakd in a statement.

Fines may also be paid online at www.mcallen.net. The city said payment plans and community service opportunities instead of payment are also available.
