DONNA — The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a group of armed men who shot three people after they ambushed a rural property here Tuesday evening.
Deputies responded to the 2700 block of Mile 8 ½ North in rural Donna at approximately 10:39 p.m. Tuesday and met with several victims who reported that several men wearing surgical masks and carrying rifles had tried to get them out of two vehicles that were parked at the property.
According to a news release, when the victims in one vehicle drove away from the masked suspects, they were reportedly shot at, and the driver of the vehicle was shot multiple times.
“A second male victim who was inside of another vehicle at the property that was shot at was also shot multiple times,” the release said.
The suspects also entered the home and demanded drugs and money.
They shot one more person inside the residence and took money and jewelry from them, the release indicated.
The suspects were described as wearing surgical masks, T-shirts and blue jeans. The vehicle they were driving was described as a dark, blue-colored passenger car.
“This is an active investigation. We encourage witnesses with any additional information regarding this case to come forward,” the release said.
