You might want to have a cup of hot chocolate ready, as there will be some chilly nights in the Rio Grande Valley over the next couple of days.
The overnight lows will be in the 40s, 50s and 60s, Tuesday night, Wednesday night and Thursday night depending on where you live in the Valley, the National Weather Service in Brownsville/Rio Grande Valley reports.
The cold nights are the result of a cold front that passed through the Valley Monday night into Tuesday morning, dropping temperatures at least 25 degrees.
Currently, the temperature is 59 degrees in Brownsville, 51 degrees in Harlingen, and 52 degrees in McAllen.
There’s a 60% chance of rain Tuesday across the Valley.
The daytime temperatures will be in the 70s Wednesday and Thursday and increase into the 80s by Friday.
