Auto-pedestrian killed in McAllen crash

The McAllen Police Department is investigating the death of a pedestrian who was hit and killed by a vehicle Sunday morning.

In a news release issued Monday, police said officers responded to the auto-pedestrian collision in the 11800 block of N. Ware Road at about 6:39 a.m. Sunday.

“Responding police officers determined the pedestrian on the roadway was struck by a vehicle and is deceased,” the news release stated.

Authorities identified the pedestrian as 20-year-old Irving Samir Sanchez Mendez, whose last known address was in Mission.

Police said the driver remained at the scene and that the crash remains under investigation.
