One person who has yet to be identified was killed in a midnight crash near a farm road north of Alton on Saturday.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said in a news release Saturday morning that the incident, which DPS described as a two-vehicle fatal crash, occurred at around 12:03 a.m. on Morefield Road south of Farm-to-Market Road 681.
According to initial investigative efforts, troopers said they learned that a gray Mazda 6 was heading northbound on Moorefield Road when it collided with a blue GMC Sierra traveling southbound.
Both vehicles carried a driver and passenger. The passenger in the Mazda died at the scene, DPS said in the release.
“The driver and passenger of the Sierra were transported to a local hospital with non-incapacitating injuries,” authorities stated, but did not provide a status for the driver of the Mazda.
DPS said troopers are still investigating the crash.
