If you haven’t cut the front and back yards of your home, you are going to want to do it Tuesday or Wednesday.

More tropical moisture will make its way to the Rio Grande Valley on Wednesday, bringing good rain chances back to the Valley once again. Daytime temperatures will also be slightly cooler because of the cloud cover and rain chances, the National Weather Service in Brownsville/Rio Grande Valley reports.

According to the NWS, “A frontal boundary across south-central Texas is expected to become semi-stationary and oscillates south/north through the end of the week and into next weekend, drifting across Deep South Texas by the end of the week.”

There’s a 50% chance of thunderstorms Wednesday and Wednesday night, and that increases to a 70% chance of thunderstorms Thursday and Friday in the Brownsville and Harlingen areas, according to the NWS. The rain chances drop to 60% Saturday and 50% Sunday.

The rain chances are slightly lower in the Upper Valley with a 60% chance of rain Thursday, a 50% chance for Friday, a 40% chance of rain on Saturday and a 30% chance on Sunday.

Rainfall amounts of ¼ of an inch to 1 inch are possible in some areas, with the bulk of the rain falling Thursday through Saturday.

With cloud cover and rain chances increasing, daytime temperatures are expected to trend a few degrees below seasonal average, generally lower 90s. Low temperatures will remain in the low-mid 70s each night.

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor as of Thursday, Sept. 8, Cameron, Hidalgo, and Willacy counties are no longer experiencing drought conditions. A portion of Starr County is abnormally dry.
