Mission CISD received an anonymous call regarding a bomb in an elementary school Tuesday, according to a news release.

The call came in at around 11:16 a.m. which resulted in Escobar-Rios Elementary School being evacuated to Kenneth White Junior High, the release said, adding this was part of its campus safety and security procedures.

According to the release, the students are safe and none were injured.

Despite the bomb threat, the release said the campus has been “secured and both school security personnel and local law enforcement are working to clear the facility.”

Mission CISD asked parents and guardians wishing to pick up their children to arrive at the westside of Kenneth White Junior High by 1 p.m., while students who normally ride the bus and aren’t picked up will be sent home at the end of the school day.

“District officials remind parents and the community that the safety and security of students and staff takes everyone working together,” the release said. “As always, should any student have a safety concern, they are encouraged to notify an adult on campus so the appropriate steps can be taken.”

Mission CISD thanked local law enforcement for their support and immediate response.
