The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal Monte Alto shooting following a 911 call from a homeowner who said he shot a man who was wielding a knife, according to a news release Wednesday.
The release, which was posted on Facebook, said deputies were dispatched to the 8200 block of Trimble Avenue, north of Valdez Road on Farm-to-Market Road 88, at 7:11 a.m. Wednesday.
“Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrived on scene and observed the body of a lifeless male inside a home,” the release stated. “Investigators are currently on scene investigating this case.”
Authorities did not immediately disclose whether the men knew each other.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation is active and ongoing and is asking any witnesses with additional information to call the sheriff’s office at (956) 383-8114.
