STHS Behavioral appoints new CEO

Jessica Becker

South Texas Health System appointed a new CEO to lead their behavioral center, the hospital system announced Wednesday.

Jessica Becker is the new CEO of STHS Behavioral, an Edinburg facility that provides behavioral health and substance abuse treatment.

Becker began in the position on June 27 and the hospital system said she is tasked with leading the facility’s staff “in delivering quality, compassionate care to patients in the Rio Grande Valley and surrounding areas,” STHS said in a news release.

Prior to joining STHS, Becker served as the COO at Kingwood Pines Hospital in Kingwood, Texas where she oversaw multiple projects aimed toward improving patient safety and experience. Before that, she was the CEO at Assurance Health in Wilmington and Cincinnati, Ohio. While there, she oversaw two facilities that provided inpatient psychiatric services to senior adults.

“I am very excited to collaborate with the amazing psychiatrists, clinical and support team at STHS Behavioral, as we strive to provide a safe place for people who need behavioral and mental health support,” Becker said in a statement.

“I am committed to helping our community break the stigma surrounding mental health issues, and I have been quite impressed with how unified leaders and partners in the community are in removing barriers for individuals to get the help they need,” she added. “I am humbled to be on the team at STHS Behavioral as we continue to strengthen our position in the community and expand our services. Together, we can become nationally recognized for our quality, compassionate care, and commitment to excellence.”

STHS Behavioral touts itself as the longest-running behavioral health facility with private inpatient treatment in the Valley.

The facility has been in operation for 30 years and offers services tailored to children, adolescents and adults. It is licensed for 134 beds and offers programs designed for the treatment of behavioral health conditions and addictive disorders, according to the news release.

“We are thrilled that Jessica chose the Valley as her new home, and to have her as a valued leader on our team,” Chuck Stark, regional vice president of STHS said in a statement. “With Jessica’s knowledge, experience and expertise, and the committed team of psychiatrists and employees working at South Texas Health System Behavioral, I am confident that many of the citizens in our community will be helped.”
