An Alamo man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly robbed a vape store with a knife and then ran from police.
Eric Rodriguez III was caught on surveillance taking money from the cash register at a Vape City in Alamo, authorities said in an arrest affidavit.
Police arrived around 8:31 a.m. Sunday at 1451 Duranta Ave. in Alamo in reference to an aggravated robbery. At the scene, officers spoke to a woman identified as the victim, who provided surveillance footage of the incident.
The video showed Rodriguez III entering the store where he then pointed a “large gray knife” at the woman, the affidavit said.
According to the affidavit, she told authorities that Rodriguez III said he would be taking the money from the register, and that she feared for her life.
Rodriguez III was found at a separate location where he attempted to flee from police on foot, according to the affidavit. Once in custody, he told investigators that half the money was his while the other half was the money he stole from Vape City.
He was booked at the Alamo Police Department on Sunday and charged with aggravated assault and evading arrest. Rodriguez is currently being held on a total bond of $90,000.
