Edinburg police are asking the public’s help to find two suspects, including one with a red hoodie emblazoned with the word “Sharyland,” who are suspects in three armed robberies that happened on June 6.
In a news release, police say that officers responded to a business in the 500 block of East University Drive at 3:30 a.m. that day in reference to a robbery.
“The two men are captured on surveillance video walking into the business,” the release states. “One of the suspects displayed a black handgun while the other carried a duffel bag. Both individuals are seen taking off from the store with an undisclosed amount of cash and store merchandise.”
About two hours later, police believe the same two men entered another business in the 8300 block of North I-69 where one of them displayed a black handgun as they demanded money from the clerk at the register, according to police.
“During the course of the investigation, detectives learned deputies with the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office also responded to a robbery in the 6700 block of East Highway 107 on that same day,” the release states. “Investigators say the clothing and description of the suspects match that of the suspects from the other two armed robberies.”
Police say the gunman is about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs approximately 170 pounds. He wore a black hoodie during the robberies and had a large ring on his left pinky finger.
Investigators describe the second suspect as being 5 feet, 11 inches to 6 feet in height and weighs about 230 pounds. He wore a red hoodie with the word “Sharyland” across the front.
The department is asking anyone with information about the identities or whereabouts of these two people to call police at 289-7700 or to call Edinburg Crime Stoppers at 383-TIPS.
