McAllen police are searching for a “large cat-like animal” that was spotted roaming around the city’s streets, according to a city news release.

The animal currently remains unidentified however, authorities believe the animal to be of the feline class based on images and reports made.

Witnesses reported seeing the animal in the area of North 23rd Street and Rice Avenue along with similar sightings near Russell Road and Rogers Road in McAllen.

Authorities are advising residents to call the Texas Parks and Wildlife at (800) 792-1112 or McAllen Animal Control Officials at (956) 681-2124.

As of Saturday afternoon, Lt. Joel Morales of the McAllen Police Department said there have been no further sightings of the unidentified animal. However, he continues to urge citizens to keep away from the animal if they spot it and to contact the authorities.
