Traffic on I-2 in Weslaco is being diverted after rock spill on highway

Texas Department of Transportation crews are currently working to clear debris from the westbound Interstate 2, according to an agency news release sent shortly before 9 a.m. The area of concern is in Weslaco, officials said.

“Traffic is being diverted off of eastbound Interstate 2 at Westgate, in the Weslaco area right now as crews clean up a half-mile-long rock spill,” officials said in the release.

It’s unclear how long the cleanup will take.
