McAllen police arrested an Alton man they said sexually assaulted an underage woman at a downtown bar where he works as a bar operator, and police are currently searching for a second bar employee who is also a suspect, according to a news release from police.
On Wednesday, McAllen police announced they had been called to Doctors Hospital at Renaissance on April 27 for a sexual assault.
The victim told police she had been assaulted at a downtown bar called The Alibi.
On Tuesday police arrested Juan Martin Villarreal Jr., a 30-year-old from Alton who self identified as the operator of The Alibi bar in McAllen.
He was charged with sexual assault and furnishing alcohol to a minor, the release said.
Villarreal was released Wednesday on $15,500 in bonds.
Police continue to search for a second suspect identified as Jose Enrique Garza, a 47-year-old who is employed at the 17th Street bar and wanted for furnishing alcohol to a minor, the document said.
Anyone with information on Garza is encouraged to call McAllen Crime Stoppers at (956) 687-8477. If the information leads to an arrest, tipsters could be eligible for a cash reward.
