A 29-year-old Edinburg man was sentenced to 35 years in prison last week for sexually abusing a 7-year-old child, Hidalgo County said in a news release Monday.
Orlando Reyes Perez, who was convicted of three counts of sexual abuse of a child, was found guilty by a jury on Feb. 14.
The release says state District Judge Rose Guerra Reyna sentenced Perez last Friday.
The abuse had been occurring for nearly two years, according to the release.
Jail records indicate he was arrested on April 16, 2019.
