Mission woman dies after being found with dog bites on body

The granddaughter of a 59-year old Mission woman called police to report her grandmother was unresponsive with dog bites on her body, according to information from the police department. The woman later died.

Mission police officers responded to the call placed by the young girl living in the 800 block of Leal Street around 3:41 p.m.

The body of the grandmother, identified as Maria Racheal Perez, was found in the living room with several bite marks on her left side of her body and face.

Perez was pronounced dead at 4:18 p.m.

Two pitbull dogs were taken into custody by the animal control department.

An autopsy was requested to investigate the cause of death.
