The father of a Brownsville police officer died this weekend in a motorcycle accident.
The officer’s mother was reported to be in stable condition.
Travelling Saturday evening on Dr. Hugh Emerson Road, the motorcycle failed to yield the right of way while attempting to turn right on Paredes Line Road, a press release from the police department said Monday.
At approximately 8:50 p.m. Saturday, the police department responded to a major traffic accident on the 5500 block of Paredes Line Road. As the officers arrived on the scene they noticed a motorcycle on its side, a Ford F-150, and two bodies on the ground.
Brownsville Police Department Traffic Investigations determined that the motorcycle was traveling west on Dr. Hugh Emerson—which becomes Alton Gloor Boulevard west of Paredes Line Road—and was making a right turn onto Paredes Line Road when motorcycle collided with the Ford F-150, traveling north on Paredes Line Road.
“The motorcycle failed to yield the right of way from the yield sign and struck the F-150’s passenger side,” police stated Monday.
The riders of the motorcycle were identified as Adolfo Humberto Guerra, 62, and his wife, Ana Margarita Guerra, 52. Ana
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman was taken to Valley Regional Medical Center in stable condition, authorities said.
“Mr. and Mrs. Guerra are the parents of Brownsville Police Officer A. Guerra,” a press release from the department stated Monday. “We ask for everyone to keep Officer Guerra’s family in their thoughts and prayers.”
