The Brownsville Independent School District approved summer school pay rates at a special-called school board meeting on Tuesday.
By unanimous vote and without discussion, the Board of Trustees approved an hourly rate of $35 for supplemental duty-summer school for enrichment and all other teachers to include curriculum writers, registered nurses, counselors and campus administrators.
The board approved a summer school hourly rate of $15 for classified instructional support staff for the summer program.
BISD administration presented a timeline for proposed school consolidation beginning in 2024.
The board also authorized a contract with the Region One Education Service Center in Edinburg to provide mentor services to first-year superintendents throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
The board’s next regular monthly meeting is May 3.
