Search is on for suspect in Friday night stabbing death in Edinburg

Sheriff’s deputies are searching for the suspect in a fatal stabbing that occurred Friday night in Edinburg.

Hidalgo County Sheriff J.E. “Eddie” Guerra said via Twitter on Friday that deputies responded to the 6300 block of Allegiant Street at about 9:47 p.m. in rural Edinburg in reference to the stabbing.

Authorities found an unresponsive man with a wound to his chest at the scene.

Guerra said that man, who authorities have not identified, was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

On Saturday, the sheriff’s office said that investigators obtained a warrant for murder for 22-year-old Jesus Francisco Ramirez-Gonzalez.

Witnesses told deputies that the man who died had been involved in an altercation with another man when he was stabbed, the department said on Facebook.

The investigation remains ongoing, Guerra said.
