65 COVID-19 positive cases reported in RGV

Hidalgo County reported zero COVID-19 related deaths for the first time since June 9 and 65 positive cases of the virus Friday morning.

Hidalgo County’s new COVID-19 cases include 35 confirmed, 25 probable and 5 suspected.

The 65 new cases raise the county’s overall total to 93,595, of which 61,008 were confirmed cases, 30,364 probable and 2,223 suspected.

As of Friday morning, there were 51 people in county hospitals with the virus and 21 in intensive care units. 

The county also reported 65 people were released from isolation Friday, raising that total to 90,157.

There are 527 net active cases in the county.

As of Friday morning, Hidalgo County has administered 536,523 COVID-19 tests, 442,160 of which were negative.

The majority of cases reported Friday were those of people in their 40s, with a total of 18 cases. Children and adults from ages 0-19 and adults in their 50s were the next-highest group reported Friday, with each totaling 15 cases. Adults in their 20s trailed behind with 7 cases.
