Hidalgo County officials reported a single death due to COVID-19 and 68 new cases of the disease Monday.
County officials reported a Weslaco man in his 60s died due to COVID-19 related complications, which brings the total number of COVID-related deaths in the county to 2,899, according to a news release issued by the county.
The 68 new cases include 20 confirmed cases, 47 probable, and one suspected case. They raise the total number of cases to 92,593 which includes a total of 60,460 confirmed cases, 29,942 probable cases, and 2,191 suspected cases.
Of those, 475 cases are currently considered active.
Additionally, there are 68 individuals in the county hospitalized due to COVID-19. Of those patients, 23 are being treated in an intensive care unit.
Cameron County health officials reported no deaths on Monday, but did report 94 new cases, raising their total number of COVID-19 cases there to 41,961.
Of those, 2,445 cases are active.
The number of COVID-19 related fatalities in Cameron County remained at 1,679.
Both Starr and Willacy County reported no new cases or deaths on Monday, according to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services.
