HARLINGEN — Keeping with its objective to do “service above self,” the Rotary Club of Harlingen is hosting two fundraising events in April, the first one coming up Friday.
The club is looking for sponsors for the 2021 State of the City Address, taking place Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Harlingen Convention Center.
“This year’s State of the City Address is an important opportunity to stay abreast of Harlingen’s financial status as well as community and economic developments. All proceeds from this event will go towards community projects endorsed by the Rotary Club of Harlingen,” said Sumer Knight, Public Relations Director.
Premier sponsorships for the State of the City Address are $1,000 for eight front-row seats, $500 for eight seats and individual tickets are $50.
The second event, the annual golf tournament, is scheduled for April 30.
The funds from this year’s annual golf tournament will go toward the construction of a solar-powered water well in a community in Nigeria, as well as local Rotary projects.
The Rotary Club of Harlingen will also be hosting the Annual Rotary District Conference for the first time since 1991. District 5930 comprises 51 clubs in South Texas, all located south of San Antonio.
This meeting is an opportunity for the clubs to gather and celebrate their successes and stories of the past Rotary year. It is a tradition that the conference be held in the District Governor’s home city.
