Tax payment agreements occurring now for delinquent taxes

Cameron County Tax Assessor-Collector Tony Yzaguirre Jr. has announced that property tax payment agreements will start early this year and is encouraging those delinquent on their taxes to contact his office in order to make payment arrangements.

Property tax statements were mailed out in October 2020 and these taxes became delinquent on Feb. 1, 2021. Yzaguirre said now is the time to sign up for an agreement in order to pay their Cameron County taxes without attorney fees.

“Attorney’s fees will start to be added to the tax bills on April 1, 2021 and July 1, 2021. In order to avoid additional Attorney’s fees, taxpayers need to make a payment agreement to pay off their property taxes in a timely manner,” Yzaguirre said in a press release.

“Because the Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office, the County Judge, and the Commissioners’ Court know the issues everyone is going through, we would like to assist everyone that has not paid their property taxes to do so” by signing up.

Taxpayers can go to the Tax Assessor-Collector’s website at www.cameroncountytax.org to pay their taxes or visit any tax office locations county-wide.

Reminder statements have been mailed to all businesses this month and will mail all Real Estate Accounts next month.
