Elsa police investigating bomb threat at Walmart, gas station

The Elsa Police Department is seeking information about an unknown man who called in a bomb threat at 7 p.m. Monday to either a Walmart or gas station.

In a news release, police said Walmart “advised that a call had been received by the Murphy’s gas station attendant and that a male caller had stated that he was calling in a bomb threat.”

The caller, who has not been identified, did not say whether the threat was to the gas station or Walmart, according tot he release.

Police and the Elsa Volunteer Fire Department immediately evacuated the Walmart and gas station at 411 S. Broadway St., authorities say.

The businesses “were thoroughly searched, but no evidence of a device or any imminent threat to either of the establishments was found and the area was re-opened at approximately 8:30 p.m.,” the release stated.
