Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevino Jr. has signed a Fourteenth Emergency Management Order that will require county employees and individuals visiting county buildings to continue to wear face mask.

The order takes effect at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday and will remain in effect until 12:01 a.m. May 7, unless it is extended or modified, the judge said in a press release.

All Cameron county employees must continue to utilize facial coverings at all times during working hours. In addition, members of the public doing business in Cameron County buildings and facilities must also wear face masks.

The county judge said all people 10 years or older should continue to wear face masks when in a public place or working areas that involve close proximity.

Trevino said stricter measures may be ordered should the Trauma Service Area V, which includes the counties of Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr and Willacy, COVID-19 patients as a percentage of total hospital capacity exceed 15 % for seven consecutive days.
