Edinburg lifts boil water advisory

The city of Edinburg lifted their boil water notice issued earlier this week.

On Thursday, the city reported their public water system had “taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system.”

They added they had provided the laboratory test results to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality that indicated their water no longer needed to be boiled prior to consumption as of Feb. 18 at 3 p.m.

The city first issued the boil water notice on Tuesday after freezing temperatures led to mass power outages and drops in water pressure.

TCEQ then required the city’s public water system to issue a boil water notice to inform customers, individuals and employees that the water from their public water system needed to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

For more information, individuals can contact Javier Valdez, the city’s water plant manager, at (956) 388-8220 or Arturo Martinez, director of water resources, at (956) 388-8212.

Customers can reach TCEQ at (512) 239-4691.
