Police investigate shooting

The Brownsville Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that happened on the 700 block of Habana Street early Tuesday morning.

BPD confirmed in a statement that officers responded to the area in reference to shots fired at approximately 1:40 a.m. on Tuesday. Officers arrived to the area and were not able to locate the suspect(s).

A resident of the neighborhood posted a photo of the alleged vehicle involved in the shooting on social media, alleging the occupant(s) fired 14 rounds of 9mm bullets.

“No injuries or property damages were reported at this time. This is an ongoing criminal investigation,” BPD wrote.

The department is asking anyone with information regarding the incident or the whereabouts of the suspect(s) to call Brownsville Crime Stoppers at (956) 546-TIPS (8477). BPD added, “The information provided could earn you a cash reward. ALL CALLS REMAIN ANONYMOUS!!!”
