SAN BENITO — A McAllen woman is being held on $1 million bail, charged with intoxication manslaughter four days after a one-car crash killed a 9-year-old girl, authorities said Friday.
Justice of the Peace David Garza charged Maranda Lizette Longoria with intoxication manslaughter, a second-degree felony; two counts of intoxication assault, third-degree felonies; accident involving death, a second-degree felony; two counts of accident involving serious bodily injury, third-degree felonies; and accident involving injury, a state jail felony, authorities said.
Police were withholding the deceased girl’s name.
Investigators said they believe the girl, who died at the scene, was ejected from a Ford Expedition after it rolled over near Interstate 69 at about 1:17 a.m. Monday.
The SUV “rolled over several times before coming to a stop in a yard just off the frontage road,” a press release stated.
Four victims were taken to local hospitals.
On Friday, officials were unavailable to comment on the relationships between Longoria, the deceased girl and other victims.
No other information was readily available Friday.
