Pet Supplies Plus, which opened Dec. 15 at 5800 N. 10th St., Suite 800, in McAllen, will celebrate its opening with a weekend of free and discount supplies and services Jan. 13 and 14.
In addition to pet products, the store offers amenities such as a full-service grooming salon, self-pet wash stations, a pet care team and carry-out service in which team members carry heavy items to neighbors’ cars.
The store is owned by Ashley and Steve Schultz. After spending more than 25 years in the veterinary field, the Schultzes wanted to expand their work with animals. They opened their first Pet Supplies Plus in Byron, Texas in 2015, followed by a second in 2018 in Montgomery, Texas, and the most recent store in 2021 in Waco.
As a community partner, the Schultzes will work alongside local animal shelters, rescue organizations and nonprofits to host year-round adoption events, fundraisers, and pet food and product drives.
“The opening of our fourth Pet Supplies Plus serves a testament to our dedication to the well-being of animals,” said Ashley Schultz. “With each new store, we’re reinforcing our commitment to providing not just products, but an environment that nurtures all beloved pets.”
During its celebratory weekend, the store will offer free self-serve pet washes and nail trims on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 13 and 14. Proof of rabies vaccination is required for nail trims.
On Jan. 13, mystery scratch cards, between the amounts of $5-$10, will be distributed to shoppers throughout the day. The first 100 visitors on Jan. 14 will receive one free small bag of dog or cat food
