McAllen ‘mouth-watering’ food festival to return following 3-year hiatus

We’re so excited to bring back Taste McAllen after the long hiatus due to COVID-19 pandemic and other factors. It took a lot of moving parts and people to bring it back to life and we are thrilled to showcase the community’s culinary diversity.

After a three-year hiatus, the McAllen Chamber of Commerce is bringing back its food festival. 

Taste McAllen will be held on May 3 at the McAllen Convention Center Oval Park from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. 

“We’re so excited to bring back Taste McAllen after the long hiatus due to COVID-19 pandemic and other factors,” Jorge Sanchez, the chamber’s vice president of economic development, said in the release. “It took a lot of moving parts and people to bring it back to life and we are thrilled to showcase the community’s culinary diversity.”  

Described as “the premiere food festival of South Texas,” Taste McAllen’s mission is to support and highlight the local restaurant community by showcasing the diverse culinary talents of the region. 

Guests can enjoy “mouth-watering” signature bites from over 20 local chefs, top rated food trucks, independent and chain restaurants unique to the Rio Grande Valley, the release stated. 

The official lineup will include the following restaurants: 5a Ronda Cantina Restaurant, Bella Mia, Bonhomia, Costa Messa, Curry Box, Joelene’s, La Jaiba Mexican Seafood Grill, Romano’s Macaroni Grill, Ronin Ramen Noodle Bar, University Draft House, Wing Barn, Taco Palenque and Fazoli’s — as well as many others. 

If you’re interested in attending, ticket prices are $75 each. Tickets can be purchased online at http://bit.ly/2023taste, though service fees will apply. The processing fees can be waived if tickets are purchased in person either at the McAllen Arts Performing Center box office or at the McAllen Convention Center. 

General admission will include signature bites from all the participating vendors for attendees to enjoy, alcohol such as beer and wine, soft drinks, live music, photo opportunities and other activities.

There will also be a special designated area for VIP sponsors, which will have a food presentation by awardwinning restaurateur Chef Larry Delgado. In addition to serving as the chair for Taste McAllen 2023, Delgado also owns the restaurants house. wine. & bistro., SALT – New American Table and Salomé on Main alongside his wife Jessica.

So far, the sponsors for Taste McAllen include the city, McAllen International Airport, Ruby Red Hospitality, Clark Chevrolet and Explore McAllen.
