Two wind chill warnings issued for entire Rio Grande Valley

Put on the gloves, coats, and beanies if you are heading out the door this morning because the arctic blast has brought very frigid temperatures to the area.

Two wind chill warnings have been issued for the entire Rio Grande Valley, the National Weather Service in Brownsville/Rio Grande Valley reports.

The first wind chill warning will remain in effect until noon today. A second wind chill warning will be in effect from 9 p.m. this evening until noon on Saturday.

Currently, the wind chills in the Valley are as follows: 18 degrees in McAllen, 15 degrees in Harlingen, and 14 degrees Brownsville.

The NWS reports dangerously cold wind chills, with wind chills as low as 10 above zero, for the first wind chill warning.

Under the second wind chill warning, dangerously cold winds are expected with wind chills as low as 15 degrees.

The dangerously cold wind chills could result in hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken, the NWS reports.

Avoid outside activities if possible.
