The Edinburg Police Department opened a death investigation after a woman was found dead in a hotel room late Monday morning.
In a news release, the city said police were dispatched just after 11:40 a.m. to the 1200 block of E. Canton Road, where officers found the woman dead inside the hotel room.
Police did not name the business, but an online search revealed the Texas Inn and Suites Rio Grande Valley is located on that block.
“At this time, the woman’s identity is unknown,” the news release said.
Hidalgo County Justice of the Peace Charlie Espinoza pronounced her dead.
The city said there was no known threat or danger to the public as the investigation continues.
